SELF CLEANING

Self cleaning panes are overlaid with a special, clear organic glazing. This glazing is hygrophilous and photocatalytic. It is activated by the ultraviolet part of the solar radiation and breaks the bonds between the pane and the undesired deposits (dirt). With these bonds weakened the first rain makes a layer of water along the surface of the glass washing off the disintegrated dirt.

It performs best when the pane is placed vertically with the highest possible exposure to sunlight as well as rain water.

Under no circumstances should be assumed that these panes do not require any cleaning at all. In addition, they cannot dissolve large spots of solid mineral waste, for example cement, paint, varnish etc.

This action makes the necessity to clean the pane a lot rarer (it needs cleaning about 5 to 6 times less often than common panes).

Available thickness: 4 & 6 mm.

REFLECTIVE

The glass panes of this category are clear panes glazed with a special layer on their surface. They have an extremely low reflectance index and an extremely high index of light penetration. The property they acquire after this process is that they become very anti-reflective.

They are used in places there is a reflection problem which creates ‘annoying’ images on the glass.

SOUNDPROOFING

They are glass panes for protection and safety like the classic triplex ones with the difference that at least one or more films are placed in the interior of the two panes.

The protection against noise pollution is one of the most important things in daily life as it affects our mental health directly. The basic prerequisite for defining the term ‘comfort’ and maybe even the standard of life are the low levels of noise. Our perception of noise falls under the following principle: if the noise level in a room is reduced by 10 Db in comparison to an external source of noise, it is as if the volume is reduced by half. Soundproofing protection should be applied everywhere noise cannot be minimised.

Please note than not all types and thicknesses of glass panes have the same soundproofing properties in all frequencies.

FIRE RESISTANT PANES

They are separated into two categories:

CERAMIC

The ceramic glass panes are panes that have a different chemical composition/molecular configuration in order to have some very special properties.

  • They have an extremely low surface-contraction index.
  • They have higher melting point than the common panes.
  • They can withstand continual exposure to temperatures over 600 °C.
  • They are very resistant to thermal shock.

FIRE RESISTANT GLASS PANES WITH WIRE

These glass panes are used for the protection from fire.

The fire resistant glass pane with wire has the following properties:

  • Low combustion point.
  • Low spreading of fire.
  • Minimal surface dispersion of flames.
  • Minimal combustion radiation.

All of the above properties contribute to the integrity of a fire resistant pane with wire. They improve the resilience to fire therefore providing a ‘barrier’ from the fire for 60 minutes.
